DIY- Transformation into Halter Neck

Hey Fashionistas!

Let's face it, we all have that one dress in our wardrobe that we don't wear now because
  • Either we have worn it many times in public, we don't want to repeat the same dress again and again
  • Or we now find it boring.
What do we do now? Give it away to your sibling and spend your money to buy a new dress? Discard it? Or maybe, transform the dress? I'd like to go with the last option.

Believe it or not, a few simple changes here and there can give your dress a completely new look!
I have this black dress in my wardrobe that I haven't worn since ages because, well, both the above-stated reasons.

So, I decided to transform its neck into a halter neck. It required a little bit of cutting and sewing, but it was all worth it.

Steps to follow:

 1. Get ready with the dress, scissors, and a sewing machine, or you can sew it using a thread and a needle too.

 2.  Cut the dress along the dotted red line to make the halter neck.

 3. Fold this part inwards to sew it. Now, to add the strap around the neck, we need to fold the top part inwards to make a loop through which the strap will be inserted. Do this on both the sides of the dress and sew it.

We will get something like this-

 4. Now, get the strap you want to use for your dress. To glam it up, I added beads to the strap which makes it look like a necklace on the dress.

Initially, I was looking for beads that resemble white pearls but couldn't find those, so I used these beads instead.

Start putting these beads on one side of the strap.

Now add these beads to the other side. Do the same to the backside of the dress.

To secure the beads in place, pass the straps of the back and the front side through a single bead as shown below. Do this to both the sides and tie a knot, this will prevent the beads from falling out of the strap.

And voila! The dress is ready to wear!

Here is how it looks when worn:

It's that easy to get a new look from your old dress!

That's it for this post.
Keep imagining, keep creating new outfits!
